On March 28, the Methanol car and long-range methanol heavy truck, developed and produced by Geely Holding Group, started a test and demonstration run in the Danish port of Aalborg, which was the first methanol car to run in Denmark. As a clean energy source, the green energy of methanol has become a strategic fuel to boost Europe's green energy transformation. The demonstration operation selected Geely's methanol vehicles with a mature technology that has been promoted in China, further improving the European methanol value chain.

Methanol is a low-carbon and oxygen-containing fuel with the characteristics of efficient combustion, clean emission, and renewable green properties. Methanol is liquid at room temperature and normal pressure, which makes it easy for storage, transportation, and application, as well as safer and more convenient for energy form conversion than other new and clean energy sources. It is worth mentioning that green energy methanol technology is also gradually maturing. Take electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen with renewable energy and synthesis of green methanol with captured carbon dioxide as an example. This technology can achieve carbon neutralization of green methanol in its whole life cycle from production to use.

In addition, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Germany, and other European countries have a far-reaching layout in wind power generation and bioenergy power generation, laying an energy foundation for the production of green methanol. Currently, the organization of methanol vehicle tests and demonstration operations is becoming an important measure for European countries to deepen green reform in the field of transportation.

Starting from energy security to green and low-carbon, Geely has been deeply engaged in the research and development, and application of methanol fuel and methanol vehicles for 17 years. As early as 2015, Geely invested in Iceland International Carbon Cycle Company, which uses geothermal energy to generate hydrogen and synthesize renewable methanol with captured carbon dioxide. This technology has been introduced into China.
