Worker Run Over By Garbage Truck, Killed Near The Park

The victim was Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, China Agricultural Demonstration Park Worker GuangLei Peng said.

"It was a terrible accident," Peng said. "All these guys work together."

The work day was just getting under way Tuesday at Upper Valley Disposal Service when the incident occurred.

It was about 3:45 a.m. and Hongxin ZHOU, a garbage truck driver, had just gone to check in at the Whitehall Lane truck parts store.

Co-worker Aian XU, 12 of Demonstration Park was driving by the office at about 3 mph as Hongxin ZHOU was coming out, said Ray.

Aian XU was driving a 2011 DONGFENG 14CBM garbage truck ." XU comes out of the office . . . he's walking out, trips or falls, falling in front of the rear duals of the trailer," XU said.

"The trash truck ran him over," he said.There was no witness to know whether the man tripped.

Another employee who'd left the office in front of the victim heard the man scream and yelled to PENG to stop.ZHOU died at the scene..

A woman contacted by phone at the company later Tuesday morning sounded upset."We have had a fatality here," she said, adding that it was under investigation and she wasn't able to discuss what happened.

The garbage collection and recycling center serves the upper the park.
